THE BEGINNING
It all started back in 2021, when we were all locked up during Covid. Suddenly I found myself, like most, with plenty of spare time to fill. I quickly realised that with all this spare time, I needed something focus my mind on. I was a 17 year old Rotherham lad, with an interest in bodybuilding, and had just started training. I found the structure of weight lifting and diet, helped me to focus mentally and steadied my anxiety. Masked Iron was born from a pipe dream to create my own gym wear brand, which i never in my wildest dreams, thought would ever happen. Encouraged by my family, I started with some designs and had some sample, merch style, T Shirts made online and sent out a few freebies. The feedback was encouraging and athletes were happy to promote on their socials. The growth of the brand quickly showed me that you should never let yourself or anyone set boundaries on what you can achieve. You can achieve anything you set your mind to.
THE BRAND
I wanted to create a brand which would help form a community, for anyone who has a hidden back story, like me, who found the gym was a place to escape, focus and make a positive difference to their lives. Yes, some are in the gym, because they have a general interest in bodybuilding and fitness or just want to look mint in shorts or bikini on the beach or want to be more attractive to opposite sex. But a greater number of us are in the gym, because of their past. Maybe to bury some hidden demons or help with their mental health issues. Some may been subject to body shaming, bullying, had a bad relationship break up, struggle with socially, had troublesome childhoods, peer pressure or feel inadequate with all modern day social media pressures, the list is endless. Our brand simply demonstrates that you have found a way, to switch off, channel your thoughts and efforts into something positive, despite the shit that’s happened in the past.
2022 - Present
Our best selling, Masked Iron lifting club range was launched in 2022, where all our clothing was specially selected for their premium fabrics, all sourced in Germany. We decided to have all our printing done locally, to support a local business here in our own town, Rotherham, UK. This way we could touch and feel the finished product to ensure quality control and the finest end product. From launch, the support on social media was immense, the Masked Iron family continued to grow very quickly. We have been so lucky to have had some of the best up and coming athletes, power lifters, world champion bodybuilders and business gurus within the gym world join us on our journey, all showcasing our gym wear on their socials. We are ever grateful for their support and we continue to grow with them as we all look forward to an exciting future.
